Spaghetti sauce (the old family recipe) 3/4 lbs. hamburger 1/2 large onion Brown together 2 cans tomato paste (6 oz) 4 cans water 1 tsp. garlic salt 1 tsp. italian seasoning 1 tsp. tabasco sauce 1 tsp. oregano salt to taste Simmer the sauce for at least 4 hours. Dish over spaghetti and add parmesan cheese to taste. This recipe lives well without meat. Add anything you like. My grandmother used to through chicken pieces on top of the sauce while it simmered (bones and all). This recipe was derived at by a mother-in-law who couldn't abide with the 'pinch of this and handfull of that'. Basically, for every can of tomato sauce you add 2 cans of water and 1 tsp. of each spice, along with your meat and onions. For lasagne, 3 boxes (double the recipe) 4 boxes (triple the recipe) 3 pkgs. sliced mozzorella cheese Cook the lasagne and drop into a bowl of cold water. To build lasagne, place a thin layer of spaghetti sauce over the bottom of your baking dish. Then build layers to the top, of lasagne-sauce-mozzorella strings or cubes, parmesan cheese. Use thin layers of each item and build until your dish is full or your run out of lasagne. Top with a think layer of sauce. Bake about 30 minutes at 350 degrees or until cheese is melted. Judy Sims |
