Little Miracles Little Miracles When my daughter was only 7, I was on my way to deliver her to her grandmothers house before going on to work. I stopped to get her an egg McMuffin from McDonalds. It was early morning and very little traffic. I was traveling along a 6 lane wide city highway, when I noticed a car pulling out from a side street on my left, just ahead. There being a wide median, I expected the car to do as I've seen so many times, stop midway and check traffic again. That's not what happened. Just as I approached the median where the car was, instead of slowing to check the traffic, the car suddenly bolted across in front of me. She was going too slow for me to slam on my brakes and pass behind her and too fast for me to speed up and get by the front of her. At the last second, I spun my wheel to the right while slamming on my brakes, so that instead of T-boning the car, I could slide into her at an angle, which would be less of an impact for my daughter. I had no time to check on her, only enough time to make last second decisions. I was driving an old Mercury and the dashboard angled back just passed the dash guages. When my daughers face was finished with the dashboard, there was no longer an angle. My poor baby's face literally rearranged the hard dashboard. As soon as the car was dead stopped, I reached for my daughter and began pulling out unchewed pieces of her breakfast. No blood. Of course, I took her straight to the hospital to get her checked out. No broken bones but by the time I got her home, her little face was so swollen she was unrecognizable. As she fell asleep that night, my heart was breaking over her swollen face and I prayed. I asked the Lord to heal her, then fell asleep. The next morning was one of those bright and wonderful mornings as I jumped out of bed and ran to see my daughter. No swelling. Not one sign of yesterdays events. It was as though it had never happened. Praise the Lord for His many interventions. I will always be grateful for that and so many miracles in our lives. |
